Måsøval is a family-owned aquaculture company with headquarters on idyllic Frøya, at the outermost edge of the Trøndelag coast. The company was founded by Edvin Måsøval and his sons Bjørn and Karsten in January 1973.

In addition to Måsøval, the pioneers behind the company have been involved in building and developing two other of the largest companies in Norwegian aquaculture; SalMar and Norway Royal Salmon.

– We are proud of our history. Måsøval has been part of this since the beginning almost fifty years ago. My grandfather built his own fish pens at home on the farm. Today we send 2 million meals out into the world every single week, says Lars Måsøval, chairman of the board at Måsøval.

Måsøval has in 2021 a combined production capacity in Norway of just over 20,000 tonnes, which will increase further with the realization of the development licenses for Aqua Semi.

– We have grown rapidly, but for us it is important to contribute to value creation and community building, beyond the financial results. We focus on ripple effects, fish health and sustainability. There we have very good results to show, says Lars.

Today MÃ¥søval is a fully integrated farmer, owned by the third generation – Edvin’s grandchildren Lars and Anders – who continue the legacy and pioneer spirit that has characterized the company since its inception. Our headquarters is still located on Frøya, in the heart of the Norwegian aquaculture environment, and we employ over 300 employees.

We manage several licenses for salmon farming and operate both our own and others’ sites along the beautiful coast of Central Norway. With deep roots in coastal culture and a forward-looking approach to aquaculture, we will continue to grow and develop in pace with the industry and the nature we work alongside.
