At Måsøval, we measure progress in more than just numbers – we consider direction, structure, and our capacity for development. Our actions to date in 2025 clearly demonstrate this: a company in motion, with measures that strengthen operations and position over time.
Many of the measures whose effects we are now seeing were initiated long before this quarter. In an industry where biology sets the pace, change takes time – and improvements often occur discreetly. However, looking at the quarter as a whole, it is clear that we have moved in the right direction.
The Measures Point Forward
Through targeted efforts, we have strengthened control throughout the value chain. We have improved logistics and fish welfare, established new operational roles, and commenced fillet production at TL52. Concurrently, we have prepared for the launch of OptiMa – our new quality system, developed in close collaboration with the entire organization.
These measures are part of a comprehensive improvement journey – not isolated initiatives. A journey focused on building robustness, ensuring flexibility, and being in a position when opportunities arise.
The Numbers Tell One Story – The Direction Tells Another
The Q2 operating result is positive, yet modest. It reflects a market with lower prices and biological challenges – but also an organization that has chosen to address this with structure and a willingness to improve.
As CFO Anders Hagestande states:
“…Despite headwinds, we are well-positioned to perform at our best. In the second quarter, we optimized the new wellboat, which now functions well and has increased treatment capacity compared to last year. Thanks to MTB flexibility from lower biomass in the sea and a new license, combined with improved fish health, we can postpone some slaughtering and use the wellboats more for treatment rather than transport. Our focus remains on fish health and welfare.”
We Are Building for the Future – With a Holistic Perspective
At Måsøval, development is not just about technology and numbers. It is about people, systems, and collaboration. About producing food on nature’s terms – in a way that withstands both demands and change – and builds trust over time.
