Today, Måsøval announced its third-quarter results. In line with a trading update, the group reports a negative operating profit (EBIT) of NOK -61 million.
Chief Executive Officer, Helge Kvalvik, comments on the quarter:
“The third quarter was challenging for Måsøval. Higher-than-normal sea temperatures for the season in our region led to increased sea lice pressure, which inhibited growth and increased delousing costs. In addition, we experienced ISA at two sites during the quarter. Slaughtering salmon with low weight resulted in high costs and low prices. In Sales & Processing, we also reported a negative operating result, mainly due to start-up costs at the TL52 slaughterhouse on Hitra. Although the quarter was challenging, it is important to highlight the positive development in Region West, with improved biology leading to lower costs, a higher superior share, and increased slaughter weights. Overall, the quarter provided valuable insights that have strengthened our approach.”
The group maintains its slaughter guidance of 24,700-25,700 tonnes gutted weight for the full year 2024, while in 2025, it expects an increased activity level with a slaughter volume of 29,300-31,000 tonnes gutted weight.
