Especially concerning food safety and the environment, but also employee welfare and safety.
The certification documents that we take sustainability, environment, and animal welfare very seriously. In addition to robust traceability systems, the certification requires well-documented hygiene measures, infection control measures, safe harvesting, and packaging.

Traceability
The GlobalG.A.P. standard sets very strict requirements for good aquaculture that certified farmers must meet. With GlobalG.A.P. certification, it is guaranteed that salmon sold to consumers can be traced back to the correct location and facility.
– The standard covers the entire production chain from broodstock and feed suppliers to farming, slaughtering, and processing. The certification scheme requires annual self-inspections in addition to inspections with independent inspectors before certification, says Andreas Skagøy, Head of Fish Health at Måsøval.
Customers can check exactly where the salmon they purchased was produced. Using the 13-digit number on the packaging, all buyers can study the fish’s origin.
