Giant fish swam through the fish farm net

On September 17, 2021, at approximately 09:00, a bluefin tuna was discovered in a net at Måsøval AS’s Espnestaren site in Frøyfjorden.

The Directorate of Fisheries was contacted immediately, and culling permission was obtained.

Procedures for “capture and killing of bluefin tuna” and “escape procedure” were followed.

Divers have inspected the damage and repaired it. There was damage to the net of approximately 30 cm x 30 cm. The damage was repaired at 09:40.

Recapture nets were deployed in case of escape at approximately 10:00. Only one salmon has been caught as of Monday, September 20.

The tuna was killed on Saturday.
