Måsøval Service AS, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Måsøval AS, has today entered into a time charter agreement with Njord Kya AS, a subsidiary of Njord Aquashipping AS, for the wellboat «MS Njord Kya» which is currently under construction and is expected to be operational by the end of 2024. Term of the charter party is for 3 years with options of 2 x 2 years.
Måsøval is thus increasing the wellboat capacity within the group to meet the company’s production targets, as well as to ensure that the best solutions are available in respect of fish welfare and quality.
The choice of wellboat solution was made after an extensive tender process whereafter two suitable vessels complied with Måsøval’s needs. «Njord Kya» was chosen because it was a new build, yet it was the cheapest option and, not least, had the best technical solutions in line with Måsøval’s specifications and needs. It has been important for Måsøval to conduct a solid tender process not only for operational purposes, but also because the chosen provider is a related party of a shareholder in Måsøval (Frøy Kapital).
Måsøval looks forward to putting the new wellboat into operation. The vessel ensures additional capacity and with new technical features that are important for Måsøval such as combination treatments with freshwater and Thermolicer continuously and without bottlenecks, in addition with sorting that can be done efficiently and gently in a vacuum.
